He is the Rock

"He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he." Deuteronomy 32:4

What a great reminder of God's nature and character. I am confident and assured in my faith in Christ because of my belief in God as steady, true, perfect, just and unchanging.

We find those words in scripture being spoken by Moses at the age of 120 years. He has already passed the leadership of the Israel nation to Joshua, and had opportunity by God to glance at the promised land of Canaan from nearby Mount Nebo. However, Moses was not allowed to enter Canaan because of his earlier disobedience. And yet here we read his words proclaiming that God is "The Rock" and he is perfect and just. If I am totally honest I have to confess that I have often times wrestled with this part of God's tough love toward Moses. I know God loved Moses. I know Moses loved God. I know God corrects and disciplines those that He loves, just as my wife and I discipline our children out of love for them.

I don't know what your day may bring, but one thing is sure; God is the Rock. He loves you. He cares for you. His ways are perfect. His mercy and grace are immeasurable.

He is the Strong Rock.
