Intelligent Design

What is all of the commotion about these days in regards to the term, Intelligent Design? It seems to me that a lot of really smart people can't seem to get along enough to have thought provoking and truth seeking conversations anymore. If you just google the term you will find over 9,000,000 website entries alone. One definition of intelligent design follows: The assertion or belief that physical and biological systems observed in the universe result from purposeful design by an intelligent being rather than from chance or undirected natural processes. Makes sense to me. Obviously, a lot of other people have something to say about it as well. Unfortunately, much of the so called scientific community won't even stop long enough to listen to the evidence in support of intelligent design, because they are too busy hurling playground type insults at those scientists that have taken a serious look at the evidence against evolution.

Dictionary.com defines science in this way: a systematic knowledge of the physical or material world gained through observation and experimentation. Why is it then that those that want to take a deep look at the science of intelligent design are ridiculed and even shunned in the scientific arena? Could it be that those proponents of evolution and darwinism have accepted false evidence as truth? Possibly. It also may come down to a worldview in which they place Darwins theory above what logic and science prove.

I did not set out to write this little article to start a debate to consider my side of the argument. Time and space do not allow for that here. However, I do hope that those that are truly seeking truth would at least examine the overwhelming scientific evidence in support of intelligent design.
